IO16 Development of the online didactic materials

The task will be implemented under working package 5 (WP5. Development of innovative teaching and certification methodologies). The task will be combined with the results of the work in work packages 2-4, IO.1-4, IO.9, IO.13.
Didactic material will include:

• Prepared materials review of tools and methods related to Road safety impact assessment, road safety audits and road safety inspection,
• Prepared materials from practical implementation of PCSI on the selected pedestrian crossings in Poland and Germany,
• Practical implementation of RSI methodology on the selected road sections in Poland, Croatia and Italy,
• Video and audio lectures,
• Power point presentations,
• Manual how to present prepared didactic materials and teach courses.

Target groups:

1. Research and teaching staff from institutions involved in the project.
2. Students of civil engineering and transportation engineering.
3. National, local and regional road authority staff.
4. Specialists dealing with road safety issues at the national and international level.

Elements of innovation:

The courses designed for the projects e-learning platform will be hosted by one of the three proposed MOOC Providers. Each course will have a combination of pre-recorded video or audio lectures, which will be delivered by the project university experts in the field of road safety and is followed by quizzes and a final evaluation. EuroS@P will offer wide range of online training modules that can be undertaken in a classroom, as online webinars or in a self-paced online environment. Students can complete assignments that help build a practical understanding of concepts and processes for application in Europe. By combining modules, courses can be developed to suit their needs and develop credentials towards accreditation.

Expected impact:

According to a discussion report (Oana M. Driha & Vicente Zafrilla, 2016), when developing a MOOC there are two main IPR concerns that must be taken into account beforehand. The first one is choosing what information, lessons and materials will be included within the MOOC and what are the rights that the MOOC´s promoter has over them. The second is to decide under what terms will the materials be shared to users.

Transferability potential:

The didactic materials will be available on the Internet e-learning platform, which will enable its use by research centres and road authorities throughout Europe. MOOCs could certify student course completion or performance through academic credit or by examination.

The division of work:

• Digitization of didactic materials.
• Sharing didactic materials on the e-learning platform for target groups.
• Collecting feedback on prepared didactic materials from students, road authority staff.

The tasks leading to the production of the intellectual output:

The institution EuroRAP will be responsible for overseeing the development of the open online platform. Consortium participants will cooperate in preparing these materials, exchanging their expertise and experience.

Applied methodology:
The developed didactic materials under IO.1-4, IO.9, IO.13 will be digitized, which is designed to be used on the e-learning platform (IO.15).

Verification of the adopted methodology will be based on:
• Observation of how the trainees receive the prepared materials, what problems occur, how they are solved.
• Opinions of academic teachers and those responsible for training of road authority staff about the prepared methodology.
• Feedback from trainees about the effectiveness of the adopted methodology.
